Nicola Benz is one of four partners in the IP and technology group of Froriep Renggli, a leading Swiss law firm that provides a full range of business law services. Froriep Renggli’s IP and technology group is active both in transaction and project work and in contentious matters.

Ms Benz’s practice focuses on negotiating and advising on technology contracts – licensing, joint ventures and collaborations, development projects, outsourcing transactions, sale and purchase of IP assets, franchise agreements and associated IP issues. As a native English speaker also fluent in German, Ms Benz is extremely well placed to assist with crossborder deals. She has considerable experience, both as an external counsel and through secondments in-house, working with technology companies of all sizes, from start-ups to established players in Switzerland and abroad. She also advises on copyright, data protection and e-commerce and on competition law issues in connection with intellectual property.

Having completed her legal studies at the University of Edinburgh in Scotland (with an LLB (Hons) in 1997 and the Scottish diploma in legal practice the following year), Ms Benz worked for four years with the technology team at Dundas & Wilson, one of the pre-eminent Scottish law firms. Ms Benz joined Froriep Renggli as an associate in 2002. She was admitted to the Zurich Bar in 2005 and became a partner of Froriep Renggli in 2010.
