Chip-maker Qualcomm has announced that it is planning to split its business in two in a strategy intended to protect its most valuable patents while allowing the company the freedom to diversify into other areas. Patent offices should be focusing on quality not quantity when it comes to granting rights, Benoît Battistelli, the president of the EPO, has stated in a video interview recorded at the IP Business Congress.
